Pentecostals in Romania
The Chaplains Commission has been privileged to partner with other ministries of the church in the development of ministry facilities. One of these is located in Oradea, Romania; when finished, the Chaplains Commission will be responsible for helping raise almost $800,000 for this comprehensive medical/benevolence/chaplaincy training facility.
In the heart of one of Romania’s largest cities, this five-story building will provide care to thousands of destitute individuals and families. Someone may ask the question, “Why is the Chaplains Commission involved in these mission endeavors?” The reality is that you cannot separate these projects from training, chaplaincy placement and our other ministries. It makes sense to build this facility in a country that has the largest number of Pentecostals of any country in Europe; with 500,000 adult members, Romania literally is our hope for evangelizing and producing ministries throughout Europe.
During 50 years of Communist dictatorship, Pentecostals in Romania not only survived, but grew greatly in number. By developing our chaplaincy training center in this nation, we hope to reach out to all of Eastern and Western Europe with a powerful chaplaincy and care voice. We are already seeing the results of this endeavor. From Romania, we have reached out to many smaller, former Soviet satellite countries with our chaplaincy and care programs. We needed a strong base, and it seems to us God has provided that in Romania. Under the leadership of Dr. Radu Tirle, who is also a national Romanian senator, we have been able to be a strong voice to many countries. I know you will be praying with us concerning this endeavor. It puts a heavy financial obligation on this office; but, when we dedicate this beautiful center next June, we can all take a step back and say, “Look what God has provided for His Church!”
