White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Convenes

On Wednesday, October 24, 2007, the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives will convene a Compassion in Action Roundtable with a discussion entitled, “Faith- Based and Community Solutions to Combat Human Trafficking.”

Human trafficking is a regrettably widespread form of modern-day slavery. Every day, all over the world, people are coerced into bonded labor, bought and sold in prostitution, exploited in domestic servitude, enslaved in agricultural work and in factories, and captured to serve unlawfully as child soldiers. The Roundtable will focus on policy enforcement and victim care, as well as the broad expanse of efforts across the Administration and the private sector to combat the great injustice of human trafficking.

The Roundtable audience will be comprised of government officials, policymakers, business leaders, foundation representatives, philanthropists and faith- based and community leaders.
