New Smoky Mountain Children’s Home Office Receives Occupancy

Sevierville, TN—Smoky Mountain Children’s Home Executive Director Dr. Walt Mauldin has announced the City of Sevierville has officially presented SMCH with a Certificate of Occupancy for its newest construction project. The building will be named the Residential Life Office, and a dedication will be announced for later this summer.

After several months of behind the scenes work by many people, the announcement has brought much joy to a campus that has basically been in a “lockdown mode” due to COVID-19 concerns. Mauldin stated, “Ron and Betty Ogle have blessed SMCH more than any other couple. Not only did they contribute the funds for this building project (which exceeded a half a million dollars), but Ron served as the contractor. Their love and concern for The Home means so much to the ongoing ministries of our campus.”

Some of the people who assisted in reaching the milestone were the architect and technical research provided by Bill and Denise Denton, legal counsel by attorney Chuck Sexton, and engineering by Marcus Whaley. In addition, the building committee comprised of Co-Chairs Dr. Walt and Tammie Mauldin; Marvin Amos; John Conley; Dr. Wade Horton; Dr. Pamela Kay Overbey; Dr. Shane Smith; Jason Thomas; Ron and Betty Ogle, Ex Officio and Dr. Raymond Culpepper, also an Ex Officio who brought invaluable oversight to the process.

The Residential Life Office will house approximately eight case managers, as well as four other offices for the residential life team. Plans will be developed in the next few weeks for placement of office staff in this new facility.
