Indonesia Still Recovering from Floods

Massive flooding came with torrential rains to Jakarta, Indonesia on New Year’s Eve and New Years Day. BBC.com reports: “The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) measured 377mm (14.8 inches) of rainfall in a day at an airport in East Jakarta. That’s the most rain in a single day since at least 1996, when records supplied by the agency began. ‘The rain falling on New Year’s Eve… is not ordinary rain,’ said the agency.”

Church of God World Missions Director David M. Griffis and Assistant Director M. Thomas Propes join with Asia Field Director Andrew Binda and Regional Superintendent Tommy Smith in asking for the compassionate prayers of believers for the peoples affected by the massive rain in a tightly congested metropolitan area.

By January 3, 2020, 30 people had died due to the waters rising as high as some roofs, pushing cars down streets and flooding dwellings.

Those desiring to assist in recovery may contribute to World Missions Disaster Relief, Project 765-0036. Indicate Jakarta Flooding.
