Youth and Discipleship Announces 2020 Winterfest Dates

Church of God Youth and Discipleship is preparing for another season of Winterfest gatherings. This year the nine events begin next month and will be highlighted by the 20th anniversary of Smoky Mountain Winterfest being staged at Thompson-Boling Arena on March 13-15, 2020.

Thompson-Boling is home to the University of Tennessee Volunteers basketball teams. The arena has been the site of multiple national championships earned by the Lady Volunteers coached by the late Pat Summit. During the same period, the massive arena has seen thousands come to Christ at Smoky Mountain Winterfest.

“The atmosphere at Thompson-Boling is one of a kind,” said David Blair, International Director of Youth and Discipleship. “If you have never been to Winterfest there, it’s hard to describe the electricity that is felt when so many young people are worshipping simultaneously. It rivals any national championship final that has ever been played there by the Lady Vols, and we are so appreciative of the generosity of the University of Tennessee in working with us through the years.”

Smoky Mountain Winterfest is the original event that sparked the Winterfest movement in the Church of God more than 35 years ago. It remains the largest of the nine U.S. locations across the country.

Winterfest 2020 begins on the west coast with an event on January 17-19 at the Arroyo Grande in Pismo Beach, Calif. It ill be followed by Frontier in Arlington, Texas on January 24 -26; Premier in Ocean City, Md. on January 31 – February 2; Northeast in Rochester, N.Y. February 14 – 16; Wild West the same weekend, February 14-16 in Billings, Mont.; Rocky Mountain in Estes Park, Colo. on February 21-23; Amplify, set for Chattanooga, Tenn. on February 21-23; and Ozark Winterfest, which will wrap up the events on March 27-29 in Branson, Missouri.

A complete website has been launched at www.mywinterfest.org where all the details of each event can be found, including registration, specific location information and directions, keynote speakers, musical guests, and promotional videos.
