Plans Underway for 30th Smoky Mountain Gathering

A committee has been formed and artists have been secured for the popular Church of God Smoky Mountain Gathering event set for April 28-30, 2020.

The year 2020 marks the 30th year for the popular event, “reaching a jubilee generation.” Formerly known as Smoky Mountain Jubilee, the three-day event will be held at the Gatlinburg Convention Center in the heart of the beautiful Smoky Mountains, the nation’s most visited National Park.

Smoky Mountain Gathering has become an annual tradition for hundreds of repeat delegates. Designed for ages 50 and up, the event is packed with activities and any free time can be filled with the many attractions in the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge area. On Wednesday, April 29, there will be a special SpiritCare banquet, free for retired ministers and widows who register. On the morning of April 30, veterans are invited to a special breakfast sponsored by Ministry to the Military. For an additional $70, delegates can add a Friday ticket to Dollywood theme park, which includes admission, a buffet meal and a concert featuring the Talent Showcase winners.

Back by popular demand is the Talent Showcase, with the categories of vocal, instrumental, and art. Other activities include art classes, games, prizes and giveaways. Talent Showcase competition is set for Wednesday, April 29.

Special guests are always a highlight of SMG and the 30th 2020 event will be no exception. Musical guess will include Doyle Dykes, Dennis Swanberg, and Ernie Haase and Signature Sound on Wednesday evening. Joining them that night will be Church of God General Overseer Timothy Hill, who will bring an inspiring message, as well as some of his vocal talents.

Planning the anniversary SMJ event is a steering committee composed of Dusty Wilson (chairman) and Jackie Wilson, Kevin Brooks, Anita Hughes, Phillip Looney, Jerry and Tammie Mace, Timothy Maness, Michael and Tena Welborn, Sandy Whitmire, and Michael and Sandra Wooten.

It is not too early to register for Smoky Mountain Gathering 2020. To do so, and for more information, including Talent Showcase guidelines, visit www.smokymountaingathering.com and visit the event on Facebook.
