Christian Psychologist Offers Research-Based Insight on Clergy Burnout

Jeannie Clarkson, PhD, psychologist and founder of Christian Care Connection counseling center based in Lambertville, Michigan, announces the publication of her new book, The Emotionally Intelligent Pastor: A Guide for Clergy and Other Church Leaders (Wesleyan Publishing House).

Based on her own groundbreaking research as well as research by others, Dr. Clarkson shows how the current trend of clergy burnout can be reduced by developing the skills and habits of emotional intelligence.

Church leaders have praised the book.

Reverend Wayne Schmidt, General Superintendent of The Wesleyan Church denomination based in Indianapolis, Indiana, said, “This book winsomely and repeatedly emphasizes an empowering truth: greater emotional intelligence (EI) leads to reduced stress and increased influence. EI is key for becoming a transformational spiritual leader and avoiding burnout. Its practical, biblical insights generate hope which is further fueled by learning what it actually takes to live a life that is strong and courageous.”

The Wesleyan Publishing House, a respected publisher of Christian leadership books, released the 192-page trade paperback edition of The Emotionally Intelligent Pastor October 16, 2019. The Kindle version is for sale on Amazon.
