World Missions Leaders Visit Church of God in Senegal

World Missions directors, Dr. David M. Griffis and Dr. M. Thomas Propes, attended the first National Youth Conference in Dakar, Senegal, Africa … a conference focusing on reaching the next generation for Jesus.

The leadership, along with their wives, Judy Griffis and LaQuita Propes, were special guests for the opening service in this strong Muslim nation. They visited the school project in Ben-Barak, just outside Dakar. It was encouraging to observe the progress of the school, which now has over 128 students, after its humble beginnings. Approximately 99 percent of the children come from Muslim families who are aware that it is a Christian education institution.

“Church of God missionaries from Latin America are doing an outstanding job, reaching into the community through a congregation, the school, youth/kids clubs, house churches, and a street ministry to children,” Griffis said.

Under Louis Luwaya, national overseer, the work in Senegal is extending God’s Kingdom. Newly-appointed regional superintendents, Timothy Gbo and Alex Abiola, were also present at the conference.
