Operation Compassion Begins Relief to Hurricane Michael Survivors
As Hurricane Michael blew onshore in Florida and into Georgia, Operation Compassion began formulating a plan to get help to the survivors as quickly as possible. With winds in excess of 155 miles per hour and storm surge between 9 and 12 feet, the immediate coastline was devastated. Hurricane Michael continued its devastation into Georgia as a category 3 storm.
Operation Compassion has begun setting up disaster relief sites across the affected areas. The first site is located in Donalsonville, GA. Pastor Phillip Kirkland of the Donalsonville Church is making necessary preparations for two semi-trucks loaded with disaster relief supplies and a mobile kitchen from Refuel Ministries. These resources will be delivered tomorrow and will continue as long as necessary.
The second site is located in Bainbridge, GA as Pastor Ryan Carnes and his church will be ready with hot meals provided by Jose Ortega and the National Association of Christian Churches Disaster Services. Disaster relief products and goods will be delivered as soon as possible.
As Operation Compassion is staying in contact with our disaster relief network of partners and will add more sites and deliveries to speed the recovery process across the Florida panhandle and into Georgia and the Carolinas. Our disaster relief partners are also helping to secure whatever products and services can be brought to bear for the survivors of this destructive storm.
