‘Big Picture’ Conference Planned for State/Regional Leaders

“Spiritual Renewal and Big Picture Leadership,” a conference for state and regional leaders in the Church of God, has been set for September 12-14, 2018 in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Following close after the conclusion of the biennial General Assembly, state and regional administrative bishops, youth and discipleship directors, women’s ministries presidents and other state level personnel gather for a leadership conference to attend training sessions for the new leaders and to learn the latest of the goals and vision of the general overseer and executive committee.

“We are looking forward to a wonderful time of sharing, fellowship and equipping leaders at this conference,” General Overseer Tim Hill stated. In an email to the leaders, Hill included a complete schedule and list of events, such as a special Women’s Ministries field trip to Atlanta to visit the City of Refuge.

An important part of the three-day event is an orientation for newly-appointed state overseers and youth and discipleship directors. All state overseers and spouses are encouraged to attend a Wednesday afternoon session on conflict management, led by Dr. Fred Garmon, which will be followed by a fellowship dinner and concert for everyone that evening at Lee University.

The next two days of sessions are for all leaders with some specialized tracks amongst general sessions. Members of the Administrative Ministries Council (AMC), which consists of the directors and coordinators at the International Offices, will join with the state/regional leaders for the general sessions. Speakers and their respective session titles will include John Gray (Big Picture Leaders), Howard Foltz (Big Picture Harvest), Tim Hill and Chris Hodges (Big Picture Systems), and Tommy Barnett and Luke Barnett (Big Picture Vision).

On Friday afternoon, respective Covenant Ministry Teams (CMTs) will have their first chance to fellowship together since appointments were made at the General Assembly. CMTs consist of state/regional overseers and their wives, who are members of one of four teams associated with either Assistant General Overseers Raymond Culpepper, J. David Stephens, David Ramirez, or Secretary General John Childers. General Overseer Hill will meet in a luncheon with the Administrative Ministries Council.

The Thursday evening general session on Spiritual Renewal will feature the music of the Lee University Campus Choir and a message from Evangelist Perry Stone.

The three days of leadership training and vision-casting will conclude on Friday night, September 14 with a message on Big Picture Vision from the Barnetts and a commissioning by General Overseer Hill.
