Translation Offered Through App at Upcoming General Assembly

Translation of business sessions has always been a critical aspect of inclusion at the Church of God International General Assembly. For 2018, the service will be streamlined and offered in several languages.

Translation services will be provided by Church of God Communications through Interactio, a mobile translation application. Languages scheduled to be available include Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Indonesian. Authorized users within the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando will be able to access the translation feed via their smartphones (Android or Apple) or tablet.

The 77th International General Assembly is scheduled for July 30 – August 3, 2018. Yvette Santana and David Blair, members of the General Assembly Cabinet, supervise the translation aspect of the event.

“Before the General Assembly, we recommend anyone who will be needing translation services to download the Interactio application from their phone’s App store,” Blair stated. He went on to say that there will be several more steps once delegates enter the Orange County Convention Center, including entering an event code, which will not be active until Monday, July 30.

“We have done what we can to make translations services as streamlined as possible,” Blair stated. There will be a Translation Help Desk where delegates will be able to obtain a login which will be good for the entire week. Since the service will be operated via the delegates’ cell phone or tablet, headphones and back-up chargers specific to the individual device are recommended.

For assistance or technical help, delegates needing translation assistance may visit the General Assembly Translation Help Desk, which will be located back stage in the hall where business sessions and worship services will be conducted.
