40 Day ‘Praying for Pentecost’ Begins Today

A 40-Day prayer initiative to pray for the Church of God and particularly the upcoming General Assembly, began today at noon EST and will continue every weekday for 40 days until May 31, 2018. The prayer focus each day will be for Pentecost and the upcoming General Assembly.

The 5-minute prayer time is being broadcast via Facebook Live from the International Offices and on the Church of God’s Facebook page COGHQ. Hosts for the daily event are Wayne and Pamela Brewer, directors of men’s and women’s discipleship for the Church of God respectively. The Brewers will introduce the daily guests, which this week will feature members of the International Executive Committee, starting with General Overseer Tim Hill on Monday.

“We are a Pentecostal people and embraced by the Holy Spirit,” General Overseer Hill stated in the opening broadcast on April 23 as he explained the two-fold focus of the noon broadcasts. “In addition to focusing on our Pentecostal heritage, I am believing for God to show up at our General Assembly in a mighty way.” Hill quoted from the scriptures of Jeremiah 33:3 and Joel 1:14.

As part of the 40 Days of Prayer for Pentecost, individuals are invited to join in prayer through signing up by clicking the graphic at churchofgod.org. Praying for Pentecost will be a preview of the prayer emphasis at the General Assembly set to take place July 30 – August 3, 2018.

In addition to watching the broadcast live at noon EST, it will be archived on the Church of God Facebook page to view later.
