Car Accident Kills Church of God Pastor, Lay Leader in El Salvador
The Church of God Office of Hispanic Ministries received a communique from Bishop Pedro Guardado, Central America Superintendent concerning the lamentable passing of Pastor Douglas Ramirez, 45, and lay leader Samuel Guevara, Sr., 66. Another pastor, Obed Morán Santos, 38, is in critical condition.
The accident occurred Wednesday, March 14, 2018 around 10:00 p.m. The car impacted a truck carrying sugar cane. Apparently, the driver of the truck left the scene of the fatal accident.
Church of God National Overseer, Luis Ángel Díaz called the Church of God in El Salvador to prayer on behalf of Rev. Santos as he is being cared for in a critical care unit of a hospital in Santa Tecla and for the families that are hurting over the passing of their loved ones. Overseer Díaz said Pastor Ramírez was a faithful servant of God, and Guevara served graciously at his local Church, supporting the regional and national events of the Church of God in El Salvador.
Some Spanish-speaking congregations have begun to take offerings to assist with the funeral expenses of the families affected by the deaths. Pastor Obed Morán Santos will also need financial help to assist with his care.
