General Overseer Laments Shooting in South Florida

In response to the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County, Florida, Dr. Timothy M. Hill, General Overseer of the Church of God, issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the members and adherents of the Church of God around the globe, our hearts and prayers go out to the families of those who lost loved ones in the devastating shooting in South Florida. We also lift up all the students and faculty members who were physically injured, as well as those that will be emotionally scarred by this horrendous act of violence.

I have already been in contact with Church of God pastors in the area who are serving as volunteer chaplains and grief counselors to help this community respond to this massive loss of life. Florida Cocoa Administrative Bishop Anthony Pelt, Sr., who pastors near the high school, has been leading the efforts to console families affected by this tragedy.

I ask that the Church of God family join me in prayer for all the families impacted, for the first responders, and for those that will be providing care and comfort over the days to come.”
