‘Let’s Talk About It’ Series Released

Church of God General Overseer Tim Hill has released a six-part special series of documents titled, “Let’s Talk About It.” The series was placed on the Church of God website on Friday, February 2, 2018, following a pre-release to the International Executive Council late last month.

The series originated as a way for the general overseer to communicate his heart about topics which seem to frequently arise within the Church of God.

“As your general overseer, my hope is that everyone who reads these documents will do so with an open mind and heart toward reconciling some issues, some of which have been debated on both sides of the fence. Other topics are my attempt to clarify our denominational position and/or cast a vision for our future.”

The first subject was about the Tithe of Tithes, and was released last year to selected audiences. Several hundred copies have been distributed. It was followed by Church Planting shortly thereafter.
The last four titles were unveiled last month in time to be shared with the International Executive Council. Those titles include Systems; Financial Transparency in the Church; Broom Trees, Caves, and the Real Truth; and What Was I Thinking?

According to Hill the final two in the series are more testimonial, reflecting on his experiences within the church.

Hill called particular attention to the article titled, “Financial Transparency in the Church,” as the featured release in the series. In it the general overseer raises the fact that the church, “must be more open in making donors aware of how their donations are managed and used,” and how givers are, “not only demanding that the church and other organizations be transparent, they are asking for a say in how these organizations are run.”
