Brooks To Seek Office of Mayor of Cleveland

January 4, 2018–Cleveland, Tennessee–Tennessee State Representative Kevin Brooks, R-Cleveland, has announced he will not seek a seventh term in the Tennessee House of Representatives in 2018. At a joint press conference today, Brooks made public his intentions to instead seek the Office of Mayor of Cleveland, Tennessee. He was joined at the 11:00 a.m. press conference by current Mayor Tom Rowland, who after 27 years, announced his retirement from the office. Rowland is the longest-serving mayor in the history of Tennessee and today endorsed Brooks.

In addressing the announcement that State Rep. Brooks would not seek re-election to the Tennessee State General Assembly but would instead run for the position of Mayor of Cleveland, Dr. Tim Hill, General Overseer of the Church of God, had these comments:

“On behalf of the Church of God, I am proud of Kevin Brooks’ service in the Tennessee General Assembly. He has served Cleveland and Bradley County well. As a credentialed minister and a member of my staff, Kevin has epitomized the Church of God’s desire to not only be in this community, but to be a vital part of the future and growth of our community. I wish Kevin well in his new pursuits and look forward to seeing what God has in store for him.”
