Operation Compassion Continues Hurricane Relief

Hurricane Harvey has been designated by some weather experts as a 1 in 1,000 year disaster. With more than 1 million people displaced across the Texas Gulf Coast and into Louisiana, Operation Compassion is responding with all of its assets and enlisting the help of many disaster relief partners from across the United States. One partner in Hawaii is sending product, California, Connecticut, Miami, Florida, Chicago, IL, literally from all parts of the United States, product is being sent to Operation Compassion and made available to the survivors.

In addition, OC has two major partners, World Emergency Relief (WER) and Ecolab that sent 20 semi-trucks of cleaning supplies, many suitable for flood clean-up, just weeks before Hurricane Harvey hit. How providential and timely was this donation that Operation Compassion had product on the floor waiting ahead of the storm? In fact, Ecolab, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of cleaning supplies has opened its Sugarland, TX warehouse to Operation Compassion to serve as a distribution site utilizing their employees and equipment.

Operation Compassion has 58 semi-trucks staged and ready to go, 13 semi-trucks and 3 box trucks are enroute or have been delivered. We have established 15 sites in Houston, 6 are warehouses serving as distribution sites and 7 local churches serving as saturation distribution sites for smaller trucks, pick-up trucks and pull trailers throughout the Houston area.

Operation Compassion is not only helping reach communities but we are also delivering to shelters as well. Operation Compassion is delivering 2 semi-trucks of clothes and 1 semi-truck of shoes to one of our major partners in Houston for delivery to the large shelter in Houston housing more than 15,000 people.
