Seminary Vice President Transitions to New Position

Ken Davis, who has served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary recently informed PTS President Michael Baker that his time at the Seminary would be coming to a close.

Davis explained that while in Akron for his mother’s funeral in April, the director of Ohio AARP approached him about working directly for her in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio is one of the largest states for AARP and the director was looking for someone that could help her and Ohio AARP better serve the Ohio community. Davis’ role will be to direct community involvement and volunteerism for Ohio AARP, and he began his new role July 5.

“We are excited to welcome Ken Davis to our AARP Ohio Team. We are especially pleased and thankful Ken brings life experiences that will enable him to effectively advocate for the 50 plus population,” shared Barbara Sykes, State Director AARP/Ohio.

Baker communicated his appreciation to Davis for his dedication and achievements during his almost seven years at PTS. Davis’ tenure saw giving to PTS increase significantly while he also assisted with recruiting as needed, assisted PTS significantly in the transition of the leadership of the business office, and served on the president’s administrative leadership team. At the recent PTS board meeting, members of the board and Baker shared their appreciation for Davis’ relationship building with donors, alumni, and the diverse communities within the Church of God.

Baker expressed, “Although I was surprised to hear from Ken that he would be transitioning from PTS, I know that he and Debbie have prayed about this, and I am excited for them that they will get to be close to their family while he continues doing what he always does: work hard and serve people. It is obvious that Ken and Debbie love PTS, and I appreciate Ken’s expression to me that he will continue to support PTS. We rejoice for Ken and Debbie, but quite honestly our Seminary family will miss them.”

A graduate of Duke Law School, Daivs practiced law for 20 years in Akron, Ohio, prior to being called into the ministry and serving as associate pastor at Canton Temple of Praise in Canton, Ohio beginning in 1998. The Executive Committee appointed him as Assistant Director of Stewardship Ministries in 2001 and then Director of Stewardship Ministries in 2004. He transitioned to Vice President for Institutional Advancement at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in the fall of 2010.
