Monthly Support Critical for Church of God Missionaries

Often, the knowledge of missionaries and their calling is foremost in our minds with little regard for the details of what it takes to sustain them on the field.

Each month, though, our missionary’s ministry and living expenses allotment from Church of God World Missions is dependent on the faithful monthly commitment of the local church and church members. Sometimes, a special offering will arrive and that is a great blessing. However, it is the consistent monthly support that sustains the missionary on the field. The missionary can depend on individuals and churches to supply the resources to maintain his ministry, and to give special help to pastors and churches in his area. One missionary relates about support steadily received over a span of 15 years, making a connection with donors that feels like family.

Missionaries visit Church of God congregations to establish connections for producing future support. The visits take a variety of formats as services, Sunday School classes, home gathering, meeting with mission boards and more. Some missionaries also help organize and conduct missions conferences that focus on raising a missions budget for the local church.

On behalf of all missionaries, the missionary states … “We appreciate your help in encouraging churches on the importance of monthly support for missionaries.”

The definition of commitment means “the quality of being dedicated to a cause.”

Just as missionaries are dedicated to the cause of evangelization and completing the Great Commission, so must we be committed to do our part in helping them further the Good News of Jesus Christ!
