General Overseer Kicks Off ‘Thank You Tour’

Cleveland, TN—Church of God General Overseer Tim Hill launched a four-month “Thank You Tour” of churches last Sunday with a visit to the Central Church of God in Charlotte, N.C.

The purpose, according to Hill, is for the leadership of the Church of God to simply show expressions of gratitude to as many members in the period between now and Thanksgiving.

“There will be no buses, bands or buffets,” Hill stated jokingly as he explained the concept. “We just want everyone to know that we appreciate the loyalty and support the International Offices receives from the local church. It is the local church’s tithes and offerings – from the largest to the smallest – that pays for the worldwide ministries of the Church of God, including our salaries. But most of all, we recognize the prayers that sustains the Church of God day in and day out. We never want to take that for granted.”

The endeavor is similar to a Thank You Tour he initiated while leading Church of God World Missions from 2012-2016, where as many individuals and churches that supported World Missions as possible received a personal visit.

Hill has asked all state and international offices leaders, including each member of the Executive Committee, to incorporate aspects of the Thank You Tour into their itinerary over the next four months. He estimates between 1,000-1,500 churches will receive a personal visit between now and the end of November, including 80 from the Executive Committee alone.

“This is a campaign for all congregations, large and small,” Hill continued. “Last Sunday I was at Charlotte Central, a church with thousands of members. This Sunday I will be preaching at a church of under 100 members. Each one is important to the fulfillment of the harvest and finishing the Great Commission.”
