Special Orders of the Day to Highlight General Assembly Business Sessions

A number of new opportunities will be taking place at the upcoming 76th Church of God International General Assembly on July 19-22, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Five, “Special Orders of the Day” will be part of the agenda of the General Council, which begins meeting on the morning of Tuesday, July 19 at the Music City Center.

Two years ago at the 2014 General Assembly in Orlando, Florida, Pentecostal Theological Seminary professors Dr. Hollis Gause and Dr. French Arrington delivered powerful special orders of the day, as well as former seminary president Dr. Steve Land.

General Overseer Mark Williams will kick off the special order series with a “State of the Church” address. It will be the first item of business on the General Council’s agenda that day. This will be Williams’ second such address, his first being delivered at the 2014 General Assembly.

On Wednesday, two special orders will take place starting with Dr. Tony Evans, a Dallas-based pastor, speaker, author, and widely-syndicated radio and television broadcaster. He will address the topic, “Great Commission and Urban Evangelism.”

On Wednesday afternoon, Pastor Larry Stockstill will address the topic of Spiritual Fathering and Mentoring. Stockstill is former pastor of the Bethany Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and now focuses on ministry across generations.

On Thursday morning, July 21, Jimmy Evans, founder and CEO of MarriageToday, a ministry based in Dallas, Texas that is devoted to helping couples build strong and fulfilling marriages and families, will present on the topic, “Sanctity of Marriage.” He will be followed in the afternoon with a concluding address by Dr. Ed Stetzer, president of LifeWay Christian Resources, who will speak on the “Great Commission and Culture.”

“Special Orders of the Day will bring an exciting ministerial enrichment to our General Council sessions,” stated David Ray, chairman of the General Assembly Cabinet. “Dr. Williams feels strongly about pausing during the business and deliberations of the Council to engage our ministers with these speakers who are well-versed in their ministry focus.”

Observation of the General Council sessions at the International General Assembly, including Special Orders of the Day, will be open to registered delegates. To register, please visit www.churchofgod.org and click on the General Assembly graphic.
