International Executive Council Completes January Session

Cleveland, TN—The International Executive Council (IEC) of the Church of God has completed their regularly-scheduled January session at the Leadership and Communications Center at International headquarters.

Moderated by General Overseer Mark Williams, this two day session included a full day of leadership training for the denomination’s top leaders, who participated in Leader Labs, led by Dr. Fred Garmon.

A traditional focus of the January meeting during a General Assembly year is presentation of the first outline of items by the General Assembly Agenda Committee. Items submitted for consideration have been vetted and a proposed outline was presented to the IEC. A full agenda will be brought before the IEC during their April 2016 meeting for final approval, which will then be released to all ordained bishops for perusal prior to the Assembly.

Non-bylaw items for consideration for the agenda will continue to be accepted until April 15, 2016.

“I experienced one of the more transformational times since I have been a member of the International Executive Council,” Williams stated about the session. “We (IEC) came in with a sense that this was a new beginning…we feel God is up to something and that there is something more!”

“We were presented a structure for a framework for an agenda that gives us a chance to wrap our arms around the mission of this church…the mission for which Jesus died,” Williams said.

In referring to the General Council at the General Assembly, the group of pastors and church leaders comprised of ordained bishops, Williams said that addition to the business of the church, “our business will also be to pray, to hear from God on very critical issues that are demanding answers from the people that we lead.”

Williams encouraged everyone to register for the General Assembly, which will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, July 19-22, 2016. Please visit www.ga16.org to become a registered delegate and obtain discounted housing through the official General Assembly provider.

“I want this meeting (General Assembly) to be one in which you speak into, and that also speaks to you.”

The International Executive Council meets again on April 26-28, 2016.
