Takam Village Church and Community Center Dedicated in Cambodia
Siem Reap, Cambodia–May 8, 2015 was a banner day for the Church of God, People for Care and Learning (PCL) and the small rural village of Takam, located just north of Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Delegates from around the world gathered at Takam Village to dedicate the new church, community facilities, and farm properties. The completion of the new compound represents the fulfillment of one Cambodian’s dream—a devout Christian young adult whose name is Sen.
Weekly, the church is filled with worshipers of every age. The property and facilities were purchased and constructed because of the generous gifts from a number of American pastors and their churches. These pastors visited the small village in January 2014 with Church of God General Overseer, Dr. Mark Williams.
Sen and Isaac Lutz, two of PCL’s staff members, cast the vision for the project and in a matter of minutes the $95,000 was pledged. The money came in within a few short months and construction was immediately started. The church and property were dedicated less than 15 months after the money was raised.
Featured in the dedication ceremony were speeches by PCL staff, local Cambodians, and the church’s Pastor. The ceremonial ribbon cutting concluded the historic event, with assistant general overseers, Dr. David Griffis and Dr. Wallace Sibley making the final cuts. The Takam Church of God is truly a testimonial to a God-given vision and to His enablement in bringing it to pass.
“To me, Takam Village Church of God was about opportunity—an opportunity to do something for a village that could not do it for itself,” said Kevin Chapman, pastor of Connection Point Church of God in Asheville, N.C. “At Connection Point, we too had a need—a need for a children’s department that would go to the next level. The Lord promised me that if we could help make it happen for Takam, He would make a children’s ministry happen for us. Radical obedience brought radical blessings.”
An anonymous resident of Takam Village summed up the event: “This is a special day for us. It is a day we have dreamed of for many years and our hearts are full. God reigns here in Takam village! It is small and may seem out of the way, but God is here.”
