Tampa Congregation Sponsors ‘Carefest’

Abundant Life, a Church of God congregation in the Tampa, Fla. area, has annually sponsored a community-wide event called CareFest. The event takes place every September with the theme being “Bee Caretagious.”

According to an Abundant Life pastor, Anthony McDaniel, it is a day when Somebody Cares Tampa Bay, a non-profit organization, mobilizes local churches, community agencies, and businesses to meet the practical needs of their communities. Carefest USA tackles projects that beautify and repair homes and neighborhoods. Last year they impacted 24 cities, completing 500 projects with 4,500 volunteers.

Abundant Life is the meeting location for the city of Largo volunteers. The church hosted a large breakfast for the volunteers involved, and has had the mayor of Largo speak on numerous occasions. This year, ALM had over 300 volunteers and adopted 55 projects.

“ALM is a serving church, and we have won the ‘Care Cup’ four times for being the most caring church in the Tampa Bay!” Pastor McDaniel stated. “Our purpose is to show the Tampa Bay area God’s love in a practical way. ALM strives to reach the lost, serve the community, and equip people to serve in ministry!”
