McClung Joins “EvangelVision Blogging Community”

Dr. Grant McClung, President of Missions Resource Group, has been invited to join the “EvangelVision” blogging community from the Billy Graham Center for Evangelism (BGCE) at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. The BGCE is committed to helping Christ-followers develop a passion for sharing Jesus winsomely and wisely. They provide training and resourcing for leaders and lay Christians to develop a lifestyle of evangelism.

Laurie Nichols, Director of Communications at BGCE and Editor of EvangelVision, reports over 50,000 visits to the new website since the launching of the initiative. “The main thrust of the blog,” she stated, “is to inspire the church to be a winsome witness for Jesus. This blog is about learning from each other, being inspired by each other, and then going out and letting the light of Jesus shine as a light upon a hill.” Citing a recent study indicating that only 52% of Christians shared their faith last year, Nichols said that, “Sharing the gospel isn’t a task. It’s a way of life, lived out in ways too numerous to count. Being able to tell others about Jesus is a blessing each follower of Christ is given.”

EvangelVision is a collective of some fifty regular voices from all facets of life, plus a number of guest bloggers periodically sharing their passion for evangelism. Among others, some of the bloggers are: Miriam Adeney, Department of Global and Urban Ministry at Seattle Pacific University; Jon Bloom, President of Desiring God (launched with John Piper in 1994); Tom Burns, chaplain at the Chicago O’Hare Airport Chapel, ministering to travelers and the over 40,000 employees working at O’Hare Airport; Will Graham, grandson of Billy Graham, and associate evangelist and vice president with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association; Ron Hutchcraft, international speaker and radio host; Greg Laurie, featured evangelist at the Harvest Crusades and Harvest America; Tom Lin, Vice President of Missions for InterVarsity, and Director of Urbana Missions; and Ed Stetzer, Executive Director of LifeWay Research.

McClung is the author of five books, has written chapters and research articles for twenty more, and has authored more than 100 published scholarly articles on the missional, evangelistic outreach of the church, particularly from the Pentecostal/Charismatic family of churches. His Azusa Street and Beyond: Missional Commentary on the Global Pentecostal/Charismatic Movement, has been called “A durable classic, a pioneer publication in the field of Pentecostal missiology” (Russell P. Spittler, Provost Emeritus, Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California).

In addition to interdenominational missions leadership with the Lausanne Movement for World Evangelization and the World Missions Commission of the Pentecostal World Fellowship, McClung is an International Missionary Educator with Church of God World Missions and Associate Professor of Missions at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tennessee USA.

McClung’s publications and resources may be found at www.MissionsResourceGroup.org and his and other’s evangelism/mission blogs are available at www.EvangelVision.com.
