Preparations Continue for 75th International General Assembly

Cleveland, TN–Preparations for the 75th Church of God International General Assembly are well underway as registration continues and events are being finalized.

Improvements to the operational structure are also taking place as new systems are being implemented and communications venues brought up to date, updating social media and electronic connectivity, apps, and up-to-the minute updates through the implementation of an Anchor Desk, staffed with personnel during all business sessions. Anchors will conduct interviews, and present news updates on the progress of General Council proceedings.

On Monday June 30, General Overseer Mark L. Williams took a “dry run” of moderating the General Council with a mock setup in the Leadership and Communications Center. Key personnel were present to ensure a smooth operation when the General Assembly officially gets underway on Tuesday morning, June 29.

New this year will be a revamped speaker recognition system. The unique design was engineered by Business and Records staff member Greg Johnson who built some of the components with 3-D printer technology. The system employs larger electronic touch-screen tablets that communicate with a central operating system. It is completely battery powered, eliminating the need for power cords and ethernet cables. Johnson also hand crafted the aluminum housing for each of the 20 systems attached to poles topped with LED lights.

“Most people won’t notice the changes from last assembly,” Johnson stated. “We took our current system and just gave it a contemporary upgrade.” Johnson went on to say that the tablets will be removed and re-sold following the Assembly, allowing for the latest tablet versions to be installed in the systems before the 2016 General Assembly.

Because all registration materials will be picked up on site in Orlando, registration for GA2014 has been extended through July 15. To register and to secure housing for the event, log on to www.churchofgod.org and click on the GA2014 graphic.
