Alpha and Omega Ministries Goes International
The International Youth & C.E. Department has been pioneering new ministry works on university campuses across the United States. John Unthank is campus ministry consultant for Alpha Omega Campus Ministries.
The past few months have been given to exploring and strengthening what God is doing through the Church of God internationally on campuses around the world. The following Campus Ministries are taking place globally:
Jamaica
Over 90 Jamaican Church of God college students are a part of our STUDENTNET connection. College students are a vital part of the country’s youth camps.
Bahamas
Youth Leader Eileen Johnson is in the planning stages of campus ministry. A large youth convention in July will address the needs of college student ministry. Many Bahamian college students will be leading in the convention.
Ghana
Overseer Robert Nkansah reports that outreach to the universities has begun but is difficult due to the transportation problems. He asks for prayer for more open doors.
Central African Republic
Overseer John Mumba tells of their links with Campus Crusade and efforts to reach college students with them. Thrilled to pursue a Church of God effort in CAR…
Botswana
Overseer M.R. Bakwadi says there are preachers who are ministering to students at some universities but the ministry needs to expand. Excited about Church of God campus ministries to develop in his country.
Togo
Pastor Timothy has been in campus ministry in Togo for 8 years. He has recently ministered at the University of Lome, the capital city of Togo, with 200 students attending an event with over 100 being saved and several being healed…He is very proactive about campus ministry.
Ivory Coast
Representative Ben Tito Dordzro wrote how that their National Evangelism Director is organizing evangelists and students from the Church of God and other groups to go to preach at the university campuses in the Ivory Coast.
Thailand
Janice Montrelerdrasme, a graduate of Lee in 2006, is leading the Church of God student movement in Thailand which includes college students. They are planning the Xtreme National Youth Camp in October and expecting 2000 Thai youth and college students and others from the region to be involved.
Singapore
Dr. Fred Toke and the Church of God in Singapore sponsor a counseling training college which brings in students of all beliefs….Muslims, Taoists, Buddhists, and Hindus. The opportunities for campus ministry here at this school are huge!
Czech Republic
Missionary Sunny Evans ministers to Czech students in English Language training classes. They have had excellent success involving the students in faith related activities and bible studies.
