Alma’s Closet Coming Back to GA2014
Alma’s Closet clothing ministry will be operating at the upcoming Church of God General Assembly in Orlando this summer.
Founded several years ago by Alma Kelley, Alma’s closet is a benevolent clothing ministry to women in the mission field. Carrying mostly women’s dresses, Alma’s closet will also feature purses and other accessories.
The late Alma Kelley was the wife of the late B.L. Kelley, former state overseer and World Missions representative with the Church of God. Ms. Kelley conceived Alma’s Closet several years ago after observing how many Church of God missionaries, particularly missionary wives, were not able to afford enough or proper clothing when attending the General Assembly. An appeal was made for new clothing and women from around the world responded with monetary donations or donations of clothing with tags still attached.
In their later years, the Kelleys attended Redemption Point Church in Ooltewah, Tennessee. This year, volunteers from Redemption Point will oversee the organization, inventory and upkeep as well as all Alma’s Closet events.
“The motto for Alma’s Closet is, ‘It is our mission to serve you as you serve others,’” stated Vernice Blackaby who heads Alma’s Closet. “We will be located in the Hyatt Regency Challenger Rooms 38 & 39 on the Mezzanine Floor. We will be accepting personal or church donations, both before the Assembly and at the Hyatt.”
