International Church of God Girls Ministries Celebrates 45 Years

International Church of God Girls Ministries (girls clubs) is celebrating its 45th year of ministry in the Church of God.

Since their inception in 1969, Girls Ministries has provided club-based curricula (and more) that employs relevant, life-applicable lessons according to God’s Word.  Girls Ministries was with Church of God Women’s Discipleship until 2010 following General Assembly when it was aligned with Youth and Discipleship. Girls Ministries now has its own website www.girlsministries.org.

Insight magazine, previously a mailed periodical, is now a webzine offered as a free online subscription. Articles are archived on the website. Chartering for clubs is also offered free of charge online.  New Girls Ministries brochures and Prayer Mother brochures are available for free download on the website (also available in Spanish).

International Girls Ministries Coordinator, Lori Lewis, believes in keeping pace with change in order to minister effectively to girls.

“We need to examine our methods of discipling girls,” Lewis stated. “Are we relevant? Are we reaching them where they are developmentally, spiritually, socially? It’s a big challenge. My prayer is that we will be distillers of the truth and always bring it back to Jesus!”

The Joy Belles Faith Journey curriculum is a completely new three-year series for 4th-6th grade girls. A new Bluebelles curriculum (BB Girl: Fashioned by God) for girls grades 1-3 is in the works. Release date for Bluebelles Year One is later this summer. Merit Studies (individual Bible studies in addition to the achievement curriculum) have also been revised and new ones added for both Bluebelles and Joy Belles. The Teen Girls Book Club has been added to the Girls Ministries website as an online Bible Study for teen girls. It may be done individually or as a group.  Materials may be ordered from Pathway Press.

Girls Ministries is 45 and going strong as an outreach of International Church of God Youth and Discipleship. Its mission is to assist the local church in mentoring girls on their journey as Christ followers.
