‘Watchmen on the Wall’ Event
P. Douglas Small, coordinator of prayer ministries for the Church of God will be one of speakers at the annual pastor’s ‘Watchmen on the Wall’ event sponsored by the Family Research Council of Washington, DC, on May 21-23 at the Hyatt Regency.
Tony Perkins, President of the organization explained the “Watchmen on the Wall” ministry as an investment into pastors. “We believe that the problems we face in our communities and our nation are not just political and cultural, they are spiritual in nature (Eph. 6:10-13). Consequently, these problems ultimately require a spiritual solution administered by spiritual leadership. That is why we are championing pastors to transform America.”
The interdenominational event will draw upwards of a thousand pastors from across the nation! This year, among the slate of speakers is the honorable Tim Scott, Senator from South Carolina; Bishop Harry Jackson, author and pastor; Franklin Graham, CEO of the Billy Graham Association and Samaritan’s Purse; Pastor Tony Evans; Author Jonathan Cahn; the honorable Ron Dermer, Ambassador of Israel to the US, among others. Small will speak twice, his 3rd year at the event as a presenter. Each year, numbers of Church of God pastors attend the event charged with making a difference in the nation.
FRC is primarily focused on shaping public policy and informed civic activism, but a growing number of pastors have formed community-based prayer fellowships to ‘watch’ and pray for the nation and its need for a national spiritual awakening. These pastors are challenged to become the salt and light about which Jesus spoke and make a positive difference in their communities, state, and our nation.
