Church of God Communications Wins Telly Awards

Church of God Communications was recently recognized with two Telly Awards for creative excellence in video production. For over a quarter century, the Telly statuette has been a symbol of creative excellence and honors the very best film and video productions, groundbreaking online video content, and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs.

Chad Guyton, Media Coordinator with Church of God Communications, was presented the silver and bronze recognition for two videos produced and aired on the Church of God website. The silver award was given for a video produced to call attention to the tornadoes in Oklahoma, while the bronze recognition came for a video touting Reformation Sunday.

“Wining the silver Telly is a tremendous honor,” Guyton stated. “We are humbled that the Telly Silver Council recognized us with its highest award. More than winning, we are proud that the piece helped raise awareness and funding for victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes. We always try and tell stories – not only with excellence – but that can truly have an impact on people’s lives.”

Silver and bronze winners are awarded a silver and bronze Telly statuette respectively. The awards are designed by the same firm that makes the Oscar® and Emmy®. The Telly is nearly twelve inches tall and weighs over four pounds.

Other winners from 2013 include ABC, CBS, Fox, ESPN, and NBC.

Judges for the recognitions are members of the Silver Telly Council. Judges evaluate entries to recognize distinction in creative work and score entries on a performance scale. Winning entries are recognized and awarded based on the combined scoring of the judges who evaluate each entry. Empowered to uphold the historical standards of the Telly competition, judges may award top honors to more than one entry or no entries in a particular category.

“We are thrilled that one of our own has received both a bronze and silver Telly award for video productions this past year,” said David Ray, Director of Communications for the Church of God. “Chad brings a passionate and keen eye for video production to the Church of God and we are proud of this accomplishment. The Church of God is blessed to have someone like Chad. He is extremely talented and dedicated, not only to the organization but to producing high quality video productions.”
