John Sweet, consultant to orphanages for World Missions, was recently visiting Liberia to provide support and training for Church of God World Missions children’s ministries and orphanages. Missionary Max Thompson and National Overseer Moses Hart alerted him to an indigenous orphanage not previously on the World Missions project list. The pastor of Christ Family Outreach Center Church of Liberia founded Children’s Rescue Center Orphanage in 1986. And upon his death in 2003, his daughter Madia Clark took the mantel for the orphanage and the church.
The orphanage is home for 75 children. With only minimal resources, Madia and her staff provide the children a home, food, clothing, an education, and a church family in primitive conditions. When Sweet walked by a well pump covered with a tarp, he asked about the water supply. The well pump has been damaged for over a year. The children must carry drinking water about half a mile. Sweet told them to remove the tarp from the well, and he pledged Marcelly’s Dream Project funds to repair or replace the onsite pump. World Missions Director Hill and Assistant Director John Childers responded immediately to Sweet’s request, wiring funds for the project.
Tim Hill stated, “Bringing safe water to our orphanages is a pillar of the Marcelly’s Dream Project.”
