Wesleyan Church Leader to Speak at Seminary, Lee University

The Pentecostal Theological Seminary will host Jo Anne Lyon, General Superintendent of the Wesleyan Church during a special service to be held in Cross Chapel on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11 a.m.

Dr. Lyon was elected as the first woman general superintendent of the Wesleyan Church at their 2008 General Conference. Dr. Lyon is known by many as the founder and CEO of World Hope International in Alexandria, Virginia. She led that organization to great influence as a faith-based relief and development organization alleviating suffering and injustice in 30 countries.

Her topic of discussion at the Seminary on November 14 will include “Celebrating the Wesleyan Faith: Common Heritage, Common Threats, Common Hope.” Following the chapel service, there will be a luncheon dialogue with Superintendent Lyon on “Human Trafficking and Social Injustice.” An RSVP is required to attend the luncheon. At 7:00 pm on November 14th, Dr. Lyon will be speaking at the Lee University School of Religion Jones Lecture Hall on the topic “Lean In: Women in Executive Leadership.”
