Truth For A New Generation Conference Holds National Briefing on Religious Freedom

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Truth For a New Generation, a nationally hailed apologetics conference, with heavy hitters Eric Metaxas, Josh McDowell and Lee Strobel, will take place in Charlotte, N.C. this week, September 27-28, 2013.

Very significant at this year’s TNG conference will be a “National Briefing on Religious Freedom,” moderated by National Fox News correspondent, Lauren Greene, and hosted in conjunction with the Chuck Colson Center for Worldview.

Eric Metaxas, author of the New York Times #1 Bestseller, Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, said, “There is simply no subject more important right now than Religious Freedom — but no one is talking about it. It’s at the heart of who we are as a nation, and it’s being threatened in unprecedented ways. Please educate yourself on this crucial issue and please be a part of the solution.”

People will be pouring in from over 30 states to attend Truth For A New Generation (TNG) (www.truthforanewgeneration.com), which is hosted and presented by Dr. Alex McFarland, renown speaker, best-selling author and expert in the field of Christian Worldview and apologetics, in conjunction with North Greenville University.

McFarland stated, “The ability of Christians to exercise their Constitutional rights to freedom of speech and religion is being challenged daily–at school board meetings, through federal court challenges, in hostile workplaces, and the public square. Secularists have recently launched a new effort to remove ‘one nation under God’ from the Pledge of Allegiance in Massachusetts. Small town high schools are being challenged to end prayer at sporting events. Our US military finds itself increasingly accused of discrimination against Christian chaplains and military personnel who stand for traditional marriage. Most alarming, the chilling effect on free speech and religious freedom is coming from the Constitution’s only named, protected franchise-the free press. As Americans, now is the time, we must talk about the attack on our religious freedom our forefathers fought so hard for and we must take a stand.”

In addition to the briefing, the conference line-up includes 20 prominent Christian leaders who will speak on relevant issues of today in regard to a Biblical Worldview and questions related to apologetics impacting teens, next gens and baby-boomers.

The two-day event, open to the general public and to all ages, will include the first-ever public unveiling of a 72 ft. scroll of the first five books of the Old Testament, a special VIP luncheon with Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, an apologetics museum, a drum seminar with Bradlee Dean and music by Award-winning Plumb, Mike’s Chair and Josh WIlson.

Conference creator, Alex McFarland, began this conference in 1991 and has seen it grow in the last 22 years from 150 attendees to well into 8,000.

“Revival in America, spiritual awakening in our country is desperately needed,” said Dr. McFarland. “I believe apologetics plays a vital role in evangelism and revival and heavily depends on our understanding of our biblical worldview. I believe Truth For A New Generation conference is the place to discover a healthy Biblical Worldview.”

McFarland is an advocate for Christian apologetics and worldview, has written 13 books and has participated in other conferences, such as The Billy Graham School of Evangelism and Focus on the Family’s Big Dig. He has spoken in hundreds of locations across the nation and he continues to serve as the Director of the Center for Christian Worldview and Apologetics at North Greenville University.
