World Missions Director Tim Hill Reports Marcelly’s Dream Progress
In a gathering of the World Missions leadership team and staff today, Director Tim Hill enthusiastically announced that gifts to Marcelly’s Dream projects have surpassed the $700,000 mark and continue to come in.Marcelly’s Dream defines an initiative launched by Hill after he heard about a 7-year-old adopted daughter of missionaries who dreamed that Jesus appeared to her and commissioned her to preach to the children of Africa. Shortly afterwards—and without missions leaders being aware of her dream—her parents were appointed to direct an orphanage in Liberia, Africa.
Reviewing needs on the field in Africa and around the world, Hill determined that the Church of God should invest in four vital areas: distributing the Word of God, supplying clean water, erecting and repairing buildings where needed, and providing medical and counseling care to orphans, missionaries, and others. These four areas became the pillars of Marcelly’s Dream. They enhance World Missions’ primary goals of soul winning, church planting, education, and care.
The nearly three-quarters of a million dollars is helping to achieve the “Word, water, walls, and wellness” goals. Director Hill explained that some of the projects now funded by the initiative were facing elimination from the Missions budget, particularly elements of medical care , but the income from Marcelly’s Dream is making them possible He praised the pastors and state administrative bishops who are actively supporting the Dream.
