Cossey Accepted fro Membership in Mission America Coalition

Dr. James E. Cossey, Administrative Coordinator of USA Missions in the Division of World Evangelization for the Church of God, has been granted membership in the Mission America Coalition, a consortium of evangelical church leaders. The Mission America Coalition (MAC) is an unprecedented coalition of Christian leaders who have prayerfully come together to mobilize the Church in America for praying, caring and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in deed and word. The notification came in a letter of acceptance from Dr. Paul Cedar, president of MAC.

Since its inception, leaders from 81 denominations, over 350 ministries and dozens of ministry networks have been involved in the Mission America Coalition. MAC calls for active participation in The Great Commission of Jesus Christ to, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19) and our Lord’s Great Commandment to “Love the Lord your God . . . and love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37, 39).

The mission statement of MAC is, “The whole church, taking the whole gospel, to the whole nation, and the whole world.” The doctrinal position of MAC is the Lausanne Covenant, developed by participants from 150 countries at the 1974 International Congress for World Evangelization in Lausanne, Switzerland, a congress called by Dr. Billy Graham.

According to Cedar, “In recent months, we have seen the Lord’s hand focusing the members, resources, and strategy of the coalition on calling God’s people together to love our communities to Christ. As a result, Loving Our Communities To Christ (LC2C) is now the major initiative of the Mission America Coalition.” Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, MAC members believe the Church has the potential to positively transform the communities of America both spiritually and culturally.
