Pentecostal Theological Seminary to Celebrate Women in Ministry Week
In an effort to recognize the significant contribution female ministers have made to our Church of God and Pentecostal heritage, the Pentecostal Theological Seminary (PTS) is excited to celebrate April 23 through 25 as Women in Ministry Week.
Guest speakers include PTS alumna Antoinette G. Alvarado, D.Min., Th.M., a clergywoman with a divine call and passion for motivating women toward excellence. She will kick off the event on Tuesday, April 23 at the Cross Chapel at PTS. Dr. Alvarado is an adjunct professor of Leadership and Women’s Studies at Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Alvarado serves along side her husband, Bishop Johnathan E. Alvarado as the co-pastor of Grace Church International in Atlanta. She is a licensed ordained clergywoman whose educational accomplishments include: Master of Divinity, Church of God Theological Seminary (2003); Doctor of Ministry, Regent University (2008) and Master of Theology (2009) Columbia Theological Seminary. Dr. Alvarado is a Certified Leadership Coach and Consultant through Lifeforming Leadership Coaching, Inc. (Virginia Beach, VA). She has also written several articles and has participated in many interviews and documentaries on the topics of Ccaching and mentoring relationships, leadership, marriage and family and women in ministry. With a divine call and a passion for developing women, she has recently become the founder and Chief Executive Officer of My Sister’s Keeper Foundation for Women, “Moving Women from Average to Excellence.”
On Thursday, April 25, the keynote speaker will be Rev. Karen Holley, M. Div., Th.M., an alumna, member of the PTS faculty, and an anointed and gifted preacher of the gospel. She has joined the seminary as Adjunct Professor in the area of New Testament Greek. She will also serve as the Assistant to the Vice President for Academics. She taught at Lee University in the Department of Theology as adjunct faculty for sixteen years. She began teaching New Testament Greek at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in the fall of 2011. Mrs. Holley is a licensed minister in the Church of God and has been actively involved in various aspects of pulpit ministry and teaching for more than 20 years. She is an active member of the Society for Pentecostal Studies. She received her M.Div from the Church of God Theological Seminary, and her Th.M from Columbia Theological Seminary.
The Tuesday chapel will be followed by a special luncheon and Ice Cream bar. Dessert on Tuesday is sponsored by the PTS Office of Alumni Relations.
On Wednesday, April 24, the conference will host a roundtable discussion over a luncheon where panelists will discuss Holiness & the Empowerment of Women. Members of the panel will include Dr. David Roebuck of the Pentecostal Research Center, Dr. Lisa Stephenson of Lee University, Dr. Angela Waltrip, PTS and Lee University, Dr. Daniela Augustine of Lee University and Rev. Cathy Payne, women’s leader at the Church of God of Prophecy. The Wednesday event will be held in the Knight Conference Center.
