Massey walked away with the Grammy for the category Best Christian Contemporary Song, which was performed by well-known Christian contemporary artist Israel Houghton. Massey co-wrote “Your Presence Is Heaven” with Houghton who performed it on his latest album.

The song tied in the category with a song by Matt Redman entitled, “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord).”

In his acceptance speech to a packed out Staples Center crowd at the Grammy’s, Massey said, “All glory goes to God for this…He is the reason we are here.” He thanked several colleagues and family members, including his wife, Shannon, brother Caleb and his parents, Victor and Jamie Massey, who have pastored Life Church in Duluth, Ga. for the past 15 years. Micah is the grandson of Melvin and Annette Massey.

“Jamie and I are extremely proud of Micah. The favor of God has been upon him, yet he is so humble,” Victor Massey said of his son. “God has gifted Micah to bring people together in worship.”

Micah Massey was raised in the Church of God, graduated from Lee University in 2009 and is currently the worship pastor at Free Chapel in Gainesville, Ga. He previously released an album entitled, “Kingdom,” and led the worship on a recent live recording released by Free Chapel called “Echo.”
