Casa Shalom Update
GUATEMALA — The children of Casa Shalom Orphanage in Guatemala recently completed their school year, and have been enjoying their break. This month, we welcomed eight new children to the home. Please join us in praying for them as they adjust to their new life at Casa Shalom.
Presently, we are in the process of putting a brick face on all of the 15 buildings on the orphanage property. In the past, we’ve needed to paint every single building once per year, due to extreme weather and wear-and-tear. The new brick façade will not only improve the look of the buildings, but will also reduce annual maintenance costs.
Another important project at the orphanage is the projected opening of a new home in February 2013. At the moment, Casa Shalom’s children are divided into six homes, based on age and gender. Babies and toddlers from 0-5 live in one home. Once the funds are raised, we will be dividing them into two homes, one for babies ages 0-3 and one for toddlers 3-5.
