Men and Women of Action Report on Recent Projects
Men and Women of Action, a benevolent organization of the Church of God, reports on three recent projects.
From El Salvador: Jose Terrero recently returned home from an MWOA trip to El Salvador—with an amazing story to share. Jose went to El Salvador to assist a pastor and local congregation to build a church. The island he visited has a population of approximately 100 people. Incredibly, while working on the project many of the locals helped with the build and even those who were not professing Christians took pride and helped with the construction as well. What a testimony of what God can use as a means to expose men and women to the love of Christ! Now the local church congregation no longer has to travel by boat across the less than safe passage to Guatemala—they can remain on their homeland and enjoy the fellowship of other believers.
From Murphy, NC: Recently MWOA team leaders Jane and Carl Roberts from Mobile, Ala., deployed with a large team of 45 to the Journey Church in Murphy, N.C. to have a Christmas outreach celebration to the surrounding Appalachia mountain community. They arrived with an 18-wheeler packed from floor to ceiling with gifts and food for the families in that area. Over 400 food boxes and over 600 gift boxes with each gift ranging between $25-30 per gift were distributed. They also had several pallets of disposable diapers, coats, blankets and many more items to be distributed to those in need. The lines were long, but excitement filled the air! What an amazing Christmas that the men, women and children of Murphy will have this year!
From Nicaragua: Claire and Jack Till of Cumming, Ga. and a MWOA team just returned from Hogar Agape Children’s Home in Managua, Nicaragua. This was their 12th year of going to Hogar Agape (the orphanage they helped build and furnish over the past years). Their goal was to provide Christmas for the children and the minister’s widows. They took toys, clothes, candy, shoes, and other necessities to the orphanage and the widows such as appliances, etc. They had a wonderful celebration of opening gifts around the tree and eating a delicious Christmas dinner with the children. They also celebrated with the widows by having Christmas dinner, offering monetary gifts, as well as a gift drawing where everyone comes out a winner! What a wonderful blessing!
