Pace Addresses West Point Cadets

Dr. Richard Pace, Endorser and Coordinator for Church of God Vocational Chaplaincy, filled the historic pulpit of the West Point Cadet Chapel on October 28, 2012. Dr. Pace was invited to address the Cadets at the United States Military Academy on Plebe Bible Sunday.

For 143 years, each freshman Cadet has been offered a Bible imprinted with his or her name and the West Point crest. This year, over a thousand Plebes requested to receive a copy of the special Bible.

In addition to achieving high educational standards, the mission of the USMA is to graduate leaders of character with high moral and ethical standards. Dr. Pace highlighted the importance of the Bible in moral development in his message. He emphasized that the greater value of the Word of God is the revelation of God to man and how to know God personally through a relationship with his Son Jesus Christ.

Pace stated that he was inspired by the sincere and enthusiastic worship of the Cadets. The large Gothic granite stone cathedral, which houses the largest church pipe organ in the world, echoed with the sounds of young Cadets worshiping the Lord. He observed, “Seeing the Cadet Choir sing praise songs led by a Cadet enthusiastically strumming a guitar, standing next to the organist playing an 874 stop organ console and controlling 23,236 pipes was a moving worship experience.”
