Pentecostal Theological Seminary To Present Heritage Week
Cleveland, TN–The Pentecostal Theological Seminary will be hosting their annual Heritage Week Lectures Series next week, October. 30 – November 1.
Theme for the three-day event will be Stones of Remembrance – Bread of the Future: Wesleyan-Pentecostal Heritage in Contemporary Context.
Special lecturer for the Series will be Dr. Henry Hawthorne (Hal) Knight, professor of Wesleyan Studies at Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo. Dr. Knight teaches in the areas of Wesleyan and Evangelical theology and history. His recently published works include From Aldersgate to Azusa Street: Wesleyan, Holiness and Pentecostal Visions of the New Creation.
Knight will kick off the series with a Tuesday morning presentation entitled, “Heaven Below: From Aldersgate to Azusa Street.”
The second featured presenter will be John Christopher Thomas, Ph.D., a veteran member of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary faculty. Thomas has been honored for his work in New Testament scholarship by election to the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas and by appointment as the Clarence J. Abbott Professor of Biblical Studies at the Seminary. His most recently published books are: The Spirit of the New Testament and The Apocalypse: A Literary and Theological Commentary.
Thomas’ address will also be the keynote of the seventh annual Azusa Lecture and will be entitled, “In the Spirit On the Lord’s Day’: The Holy Spirit in the Book of Revelation.” The presentation will take place at North Cleveland Church of God Bryant Fellowship Hall.
The final two lectures will be given by Dr. Knight and will take place at the Seminary on Wednesday morning and Thursday morning at 11:00 am. The lectures will be titled respectively, “What Does It Mean to be Wesleyan?” and “Reaching God’s Destination: The Means of Grace.”
