Davao Bible College Dedicates New Building in Philippines

Like a Year of Jubilee celebration, hundreds of friends, partners, staff and students joined the dedication ceremonies of Davao Bible College’s (DBC) new multipurpose building on September 19, 2012. A seven-year project to complete, the three levels training facility includes classrooms, library, offices and a spacious chapel on the third floor.

Located in Davao, Mindanao, “the two hectare campus of DBC is being modernized to fulfill its mandate to train and equip workers, pastors and church leaders for ministry in the Philippines and abroad, ” stated Church of God Regional Superintendent Marc Morris. “We are grateful for the continued support and involvement of our international partners with the Church of God in the Philippines to accomplish goals like this one at DBC.”

A presentation of a beautiful glass plaque was given to Darrel and Brenda Urps, principal sponsors of the new DBC building, during the dedication service by Overseer Elvis Viernes. Two additional glass plaques were mounted on the entrance wall recognizing many others who have contributed significant time, funds or expertise for the project.

The 2012 Mindanao Regional Ministers Conference took place in tandem with the dedication. Thus, a special delegation from the USA attended the dedication event, including Bishop Lamar McDaniel, Dr. Hong Yang, Paul and Khin Shires, Dr. Jerry Cash, Elaine Ward, David Morris and Bishop John Petty, senior pastor of Fair Forest Church of God.
