Take Time to Know God

A well-known preacher and author says many Christians don’t have a deeply personal relationship with Christ because they don’t have a full understanding of God’s character.

In his new book In Step With God, Dr. Charles Stanley challenges Christians to take the time to understand and know God’s ways. He says God reveals himself to believers in a number of ways.

“He reveals himself to us, for example in answered prayer; he reveals himself to us in situations when we need direction and He gives us that clear direction,” Stanley shares. “When we’re going through a difficult time and we need to be encouraged, he is there to encourage us.”

Dr. Stanley says many people have a misconception of the true Christian life.

“They think going to church and giving a little money and reading the Bible…is what it’s all about — [but] it’s really all about a personal, intimate relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ,” says the pastor. “And once you begin to grasp that, just going to church and just reading the Bible and just talking about Jesus is far, far, far beneath what he had in mind.”

Dr. Stanley says although the true Christian life will be marked by periods of hardship and pain, those who have a proper understanding of God will not waver during the tough times.
