Cry Out America Announces the Fifth Annual 9/11 Nationwide Prayer Gatherings
Philadelphia, Pa.-The anniversary of America’s declared independence from Great Britain in 1776, observed on “the Fourth of July,” is a celebration that has deep roots in the American tradition–many people displayed the American flag on their homes and expressed gratitude for the freedom and liberties fought by the first generation of many of today’s Americans–a patriotic holiday for celebrating the positive aspects of the United States.
The stark reality is that America remains in a dire physical and spiritual crisis. Devastating drought and fires rage across the United States this summer. The economy continues to be deeply shaken. Political leaders and citizens are at odds over many critical national issues as never before. Overall church attendance continues to decline across the nation. America is the third largest mission field in the world and the next generation is desperately searching for truth.
In Colonial Philadelphia, our nation was established in prayer-today the Awakening America Alliance (www.awakeningamerica.us) believes that there is one remedy for our nation-Jesus-and they are calling Christian believers nationwide to gather on 9/11/12 at local county courthouses to pray for America.
Last year, Americans across the country marked the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the Pentagon in Virginia, the World Trade Center in New York City and the plane crash in Shanksville, Pa. through 2,531 official Cry Out America (COA) prayer points during united, consecrated prayer gatherings in 1,450 counties across all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U. S. Virgin Islands–with an average gathering size of 100 people, some 2.5 million people were clearly crying out for a spiritual awakening in 21st century America.
On September 11, 2012 Americans will once again gather at courthouses across the nation to fight for the spiritual condition of their country through powerful, united prayer. In a bold public statement, Cry Out America, in conjunction with the Awakening America Alliance, is mobilizing believers across the nation, for a fifth consecutive year, in prayer to repent and reclaim the heart of America for God, humbling themselves before God and crying out for revival in their region.
“Cry Out America comes at a crucial time in our nation’s history. On a daily basis, numerous commentators express their shock at how far this nation has strayed from a spirit of freedom and public trust in God. American’s greatest need, even in this difficult season, continues to be their need to know Jesus Christ. This is why we are praying for a ‘Christ’ Awakening,” said Rev.
