All Day Prayer Event Precedes Opening of GA2012

Intercessors, prayer leaders and special speakers will gather at the Orange County Convention Center to pray for the world, the Church of God and the International Church of God General Assembly, which begins on July 24.

Pastor Niko Njotorahardjo of the Gereja, Bethany Church of Indonesia, will be one of the speakers at the Prayer Leadership Training event on Monday, July 23, prior to GA2012. Pastor ‘Niko’ as he is fondly called, now leads a church of a quarter of a million people. And he is deeply involved in the global prayer movement, specifically the call to 24-7 prayer and the church as a ‘house of prayer for the nations.”

P. Douglas Small, leader of the Church of God Prayer Initiative, says the day will begin in prayer, led by Pierre Bynum, the chaplain of the Family Research Council in Washington, DC. “Probably no other group has their finger on the pulse of the nation with regard to evangelical issues and family related concerns than this policy and think-tank group.” Bynum will share concerns about the nation, and lead in prayer. Esther Illinsky, a leader in the global children’s prayer movement will also address the group, as will Beverly Pegues, who works with unreached peoples around the world.

Small says a number of new resources will be announced and shared, as well as information on the emphasis on prayer in the coming two years.

The all-day event will take place in the Convention Center. Preregistration is required and includes lunch. The day of prayer training begins at 8:30 AM and ends at 4:30 PM. Registration is on-line at www.praycog.org or by calling the Church of God prayer office, 704-938-9111.
