International Executive Council Begins Session to Prepare for GA2012
April 24, 2012–Cleveland, Tenn.—Members of the Church of God International Executive Council are meeting in session at the International Offices with a primary purpose of preparing an agenda for the upcoming 74th International General Assembly (GA2012), which will be held in Orlando, Florida July 24-27.
The Council began deliberations this morning in the Executive Council Chambers at the Leadership and Communications Center. The body of ordained bishops will discuss matters of the church as presented by the Executive Committee. They will also work toward finalizing the agenda for the General Council to act upon at GA2012. A final agenda will be sent to all ordained bishops of the Church of God prior to the event, which will be conducted at the Orange County Convention Center.
The Executive Council is comprised of 18 members, elected in 2010 by the General Council. The body also includes the five members of the Executive Committee, which include General Overseer Raymond F. Culpepper, First Assistant Tim Hill, Second Assistant Mark L. Williams, Third Assistant David M. Griffis, and Secretary General Wallace J. Sibley. The Council also includes moderator of the Full Gospel Church of South Africa, Anton van Deventer, and the national overseer of Indonesia, Jacob Nahuway.
At the beginning of the afternoon session today, the Council recognized Overseer Culpepper, as well as Assistant Hill whose tenures on the Executive Committee come to a close at GA2012. Making the presentation to Hill was R. Lamar Vest and Loran Livingston to Culpepper.
Several members of the Council are also finishing their tenure at the upcoming Assembly. Completing four year terms are Michael Chapman, Livingston, David Munguia, Nick Park, Thomas Propes, Tony Scott, Gary Sears, Vest, Donald Walker, and Mark Walker.
This is the second time the Executive Council has met this year, their first taking place in January. They are scheduled to be in session through the end of this week.
