Lee University to Host ‘Lee Day 2012’
Lee University will host its annual Lee Day weekend on Friday and Saturday, April 13-14. The celebrated campus-wide event welcomes hundreds of prospective students, their families, and youth leaders across the United States to Lee’s campus.
Lee Day will open with registration on Friday, April 13 at noon and conclude on Saturday, April 14 at 6 p.m. Weekend events are designed to give guests an “up-close” look at Lee by offering campus tours, classroom and residence hall visits, musical productions, athletics events and much more.
Events planned for this year include club displays, academic displays across various departments, a “Major Discovery” designed to help incoming freshman find a major, and early class selection where incoming students can complete their class schedules by appointment. There will also be a block party for all guests to enjoy free food, music, games and more.
Showcase events will include the annual Music Festival featuring a parade of Lee’s School of Music ensembles, and a Lee Theatre production of Philip King’s comedy, “See How They Run.”
New to this year’s line-up is “Game-Time,” a night of activities hosted by Lee Flames athletes in the Paul Dana Walker Arena. Also new is a viewing of the video production, “The Heart of Lee,” for guests to enjoy in the new Chapel.
There are also various sporting events scheduled during the weekend for guests to attend. Both the Lee Flames and Lady Flames basketball will be in action as well as softball, baseball, and the men and women’s tennis teams.
Incoming students will have the opportunity to try out for various athletic teams including women’s soccer, softball, basketball, tennis, volleyball, cheerleading, and men’s soccer and basketball. For more information, contact Lee Athletics at 423-614-8440.
Other events include an information and financial aid seminar for parents, a transfer student information session, and special luncheons for high school seniors and high school juniors and sophomores.
Lee Day weekend will wrap up with a production of “Life at Lee,” followed by a cookout, and will conclude with a worship rally featuring President Paul Conn, the Voices of Lee, and the Lee Chapel Worship Band.
After the rally will be scholarship drawings with eight awards presented to incoming students.
