Plans Continue for ‘Praying Church’ Conference
Church of God Prayer Ministries is sponsoring “The Praying Church Conference,” scheduled for the Church at Liberty Square, on Friday, March 16, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at 4:00 p.m. A ‘One Cry’ prayer rally will be held in the evening and is open to the public. One Cry is an interdenominational, intercessory prayer movement in which the Church of God is participating, with the goal of 50,000 intercessors, 5000 leaders, and 500 voices.
Coordinator of Prayer Ministries Doug Small hopes that PrayerBorne, the denomination’s intercessors, will comprise 5,000 of this national contingent of intercessors.
Pastor of Liberty Square Bishop Joe Edwards is not only hosting the event, but through the generosity of the local congregation, the registration fee has been waived. Lunch will be served on-site.
Mark Williams, Church of God assistant general overseer will speak at the lead session Friday morning. David Butts, chairman of America’s Prayer Committee, the group behind the National Day of Prayer, will also address the group.
Doug Small say this will be a ‘working day’ around tables. There will be time for discussion. Tons of ideas about jump-starting the prayer process in a local congregation will be unwrapped. Small will introduce a new tool for local churches that are beginning the journey toward being a ‘house of prayer for the nations’ – a 400 plus page notebook, “The Praying Church Resource Guide”. The practical resource is loaded with ‘how to’ materials for the local church prayer leadership team. In addition, a companion perfect bound book is planned, ‘The Praying Church Handbook,’ along with DVDs and other training materials.
Church of God congregations that ‘join’ the Praying Church movement will automatically gain membership into the Church Prayer Leader’s Network, an interdenominational group formed to assist local church prayer leaders.
