Operation Compassion Shifts Disaster Relief to Alabama

During the early morning hours of February 18, 2008, another strong line of thunderstorms spawned a tornado that touched down in the Prattville, AL area. More than 200 homes and business received damage or was completely destroyed. Thankfully, only minor injuries have been reported and no fatalities.

Operation Compassion and their disaster relief network are once again mobilizing. God’s Pit Crew is bringing their heavy equipment and tool trailer, Feed the Children is helping supply product and Operation Compassion is sending two semis immediately. The Chaplain’s Commission is sending five chaplains to assist with counseling. Chaplain Joe Shook is leading this team. Operation Compassion was able to partner with Pastor Gary Smith of the Hunting Ridge Church of God to use their facilities as the disaster relief site for the area.

Many volunteers were just returning home following their work in the Mountain View, AR area. Now, without hesitation, these volunteers are moving toward the Prattville area to help survivors pull their lives together again.

Once again, YOU can help those volunteers on the ground by volunteering financial assistance to keep the semi trucks and supplies on the move.
